As one of the first companies to use cinema cameras in live broadcast and multicamera environments, Colvin Media (formerly Colvin Theatrical) is a world leader in multicamera filmmaking, having been featured in Reuters for broadcast innovation, and with films syndicated on streaming, broadcast and television.
Founded as a tool for live theaters to stay open during the pandemic, we streamed our first concert in 2020. Since then, we have produced dozens of captures and broadcasts, collaborating with outlets like PBS and Broadway on Demand.

CONCERT
Video: Superstar pianist Matthew Whitaker performs a live cinema broadcast concert for Wayman Britt’s Fulfilling the Dream: Celebrity Open, filmed and streamed by Colvin Media. After performances on Ellen, The Today Show and Colbert, Whitaker chose Colvin’s capture to use for promotional material due to the film’s intimate, unique and cinematic capture approach.
THEATRE
Video: Colvin Media’s capture of Putnam County Spelling Bee. CM joined Farmers Alley to create a one-night film capture, testing new IMAX-compatible cameras and cutting-edge rapid editing technologies. Filmed with a full audience, one night only, and with no camera rehearsal, Putnam shows that great captures can be accessible to theaters of all sizes and budgets.
OPERA

Developed with the PBS national office, Stinney tells the true story of George Stinney Jr., the youngest person ever legally executed in the United States. Filmed in Michigan: winner, Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Best - Independent Producer award.
CASE STUDY: 11-FILM SLATE WITH AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY THEATRE & BROADWAY ON DEMAND
In 2021, Colvin Theatrical produced, directed, and synthesized an internationally-covered live show capture series for the American Association of Community Theatre, premiering during AACTFest 2021 on Broadway on Demand. Colvin’s digital solution helped empower AACT’s biennial festival - the largest community theatre gathering in the world - to move to a virtual space after facing the possibility of pandemic-forced cancellation. For AACTFest, Colvin traveled to 11 theaters across the country - from Boston to Seattle - and captured 11 full-length, one-take film captures in under 27 days, completing post-production on all 11 films in under 14 days. The festival was sponsored and supported by Disney, Concord, Broadway Licensing, and more - and featured many of Broadway’s biggest names as keynote speakers.
CASE STUDY: FIRST OPERA FILMED ON CINEMA CAMERAS WITH PBS
Filmed in 2022 and broadcast in 2024, Colvin Theatrical’s cinematic capture of Opera Grand Rapids’ Stinney: An American Execution broke ground as the first full-length opera capture shot on cinema cameras.
Shot in 6K with 40 channels of original audio, Colvin Theatrical worked with Opera Grand Rapids, WGVU PBS and the PBS national office to create the film, which tells the true story of George Stinney Jr., the youngest person ever legally executed in the United States.
Filmed in Michigan, the film won the Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Best - Independent Producer award for best public television program by an independent producer in the state.
